Global Club meets UK Sound System Culture

Devon-born, London-based Somatic is a UK sound system-centred global musical traveller who thrives on longer sets. Performing the role of sonic pilot, he takes audiences around the world without the airmiles. Hip-wiggling energy guaranteed!

Brought up attending festivals from the age of 6 months old and loading sound systems into venues from age 15, Somatic has been immersed in late-night dancing culture from an early age. Initially training as a percussionist Somatic is led by rhythm and the visceral feeling of bass as it washes over the body. Cross-pollinating is unavoidable, from Afrobeat blended with Breaks, Reggaeton Souk refixes, Dabke layered with Garage, Bassline Bollywood, Jungle & Baile Funk crossovers and much more, Somatic is part of a generation of DJ’s who don’t see the boundaries of genres. He’s style has taken him to perform at festivals like Glastonbury & Boomtown, in Indian cities Bangalore & Mumbai, he contributes to the Daytimers collective, holds down a monthly residency on Subtle Radio and has cultivated an avid following for his sell out “Dance Against Racism” event series that he runs with his mum in Exeter.

Most well known for his Jungle tune “Fighting Fear” [4NCY] (600k+ Streams) Somatic's creative catalogue varies across Theatre, Audio-Documentary, Screen & Dance. Occasionally running out one of the Devon-based Audio Grove Sound systems (Funktion 1, Martin Audio, Opus) you’ll know he's pretty sound quality obsessive.

Scenes are nothing without history, community and culture and as such Somatic has been proud to perform for, curate and support the Windrush In Devon group and the sound artist pathway for South West Music School. He is also part of the Daytimers Collective.
